The following is what I've obtained so far on the recent arrest of former WWE, and WCW wrestler Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, real name Aurelian Smith Jr. He was arrested the weekend of New Years for drug possession. At the time of his arrest, he was staying at a motel in Banks County, GA. Contrary to other reports, he was not arrested in Florida.
His girlfriend (Name Withheld) who was outside the hotel a short distance away was stopped by an officer on the suspicion of being 'Under The Influence'. She told a Commerce Police Officer that she was staying at the local motel with her boyfriend, famous WWE Wrestler 'Jake The Snake Roberts'.
The officer accompanied the girlfriend to the motel. then proceeded to find Jake Roberts in the room. The officer searched the room, with the permission of Roberts, and found a crack pipe with Crack Cocaine residue. He was placed under arrest for possession, and a possible secondary charge of under the influence.
Upon his arrest, additional warrants were found; one for allegedly non-payment of Child Support. He was detained in Oconee County Jail for ten days then released after posting $10,000 bailbond.
Back on November 3, 2004, he was found guilty in London Colney, Herts (UK), for mistreating his Burnese Python Snake causing its death. The RSPCA reported that the snake had not been fed for several months. He was facing a sentence involving a fine, community service, as well as a ban on owning any reptiles.
In addition to a warrant for non-payment of Child Support, Smith currently has a warrant in the UK since he never appeared in court for the three day trial and his sentence.
He has no criminal background in the state of Georgia. And it is doubtful that he would be 'extradited' to UK for the not appearing in court. No word if he will have to surrender his passport. However he may be forced to answer the warrant issued outside of GA for the alleged non-payment of Child Support.
