Wrestling-News.com: OWNED! (This Week's Pick: MTV Poor Handling Of Wrestling Society X)

The infamous 'RED X'. Back in the 70's and 80's, WWE (then WWWF, WWF) would occasionally use this on TV to block out excessive blood during a match / storyline. I remember as a kid seeing this and being absolutely pissed off for the censorship.

The most infamous 'RED X' moment I saw was way back in 1983 one late night on WWOR TV. By now all of you know of the infamous Jimmy Snuka / Magnificent Muraco feud and the incident above. However when you saw this as it happened, you threw your remote at the TV for the censorship. How many of you paused the video, then moved it frame by frame, just to try and get a glimpse of Jimmy Snuka's crimson mask? I know I did. But back then, it also made the incident involving Muraco and Snuka that much more intense.

With that said, why the f*** was it so difficult for MTV to do the same with Wrestling Society X?

Over the last week, wrestling fans, and websites were a buzz about MTV pulling WSX off TV this week. Amidst a ton of layoffs expected within MTV and executive changes, there has been so much talk of the WSX product 'not being the demographic MTV is aiming for'. Hold that thought.

The poor rating of 0.5 the week prior didn't please many within MTV as well. However, with all the negative buzz around MTV and the way WSX was portrayed this past week, did they ever once bother to address the matter publicly? Not one fu**ing time.

Then we hear that MTV's internal excuse for pulling the episode is due to a fireball Vampiro takes to the face. You mean to tell me that these morons at MTV in a week's time couldn't put a 'RED X' or censor box for a few seconds during the fireball? Are you fu**ing kidding me?

MTV behind the scenes claimed they balked at the fireball segment because they were worried if kids saw that, they would try it at home. Yet they air Jackass. Yet it's ok to have a match where someone's face could end up in a piranha tank. What is more likely for a kid to do. Jackass skits? Putting their hands in a fish tank? Or a fireball? Can someone email me some executive's names over at MTV so I can specifically belittle some of these fools?

Besides, what demographic is MTV trying to attract? Kids? If Wrestling Society X is not their target demographic, what is? Talk about a network being OWNED!

Nothing on their fu**ing channel should be viewed by kids. Questionable relationships, Sweet 16 year olds bragging how older guys want to (*!#$%) them, Jackass skits, music entertainment with lots of violence, just to name a few.

Why is it that Wrestling Society X was treated so poorly this week? As some reported, management changes led to MTV wanting to go in a new direction, Yet WSX is the only item altered?

MTV has received a ton of press for Wrestling Society X over the wrestling media world. Yes Wrestling Society X has been way over hyped for what it actually has been to date. With that said though, MTV should be embarrassed at the way they handled Wrestling Society X.

MTV would be quick to post a story of how Jay-Z took a wet sh** today. Yet amidst all the negative press and confusion the last week over WSX, they publicly said nothing and left them hung out to dry.

Now after reading everything above, and thinking about MTV's content, doesn't it feel that the 'fireball' excuse seem a bit far fetched?

And I have a feeling this story is far from over. Despite some wrestling websites giving the 'everything is back to normal' with WSX on MTV, it's not. And when the turmoil happens again, let's see how MTV handles it. WSX's future is truly unknown. But one thing is for certain. MTV didn't do a fu**ing thing this week to help their cause, only hurt it. That is why we feel MTV as a whole is our choice for OWNED!

Until next time.
